Hi, Please like us on Facebook if you agree with the moral of the story)
I was attending a seminar with some friends to continue my self education. We were introduced to one of the speakers. After pleasant introductions the group was discussing their professions and he mentioned he was a Mechanical Engineer. This perked my interest, myself being a Civil Engineer graduate of MTU. During the continuing conversation, he further explained how he was an engineering student at various universities, however he stopped and went to work with friends who were Mechanical Engineers. He was working for them performing engineering work and continued their business journey together. My inner self started to become angry but he quickly admitted he was not actually a Mechanical Engineer but performed engineering duties.
Now I know this might seem petty but I feel, as well as many other colleagues believe that no matter what we have earned it needs to be represented in a truthful way. For example, I can not say I am a Master ASE Mechanic even though I can disassemble and reassemble an entire automobile. This is because I have not passed the necessary ASE accreditation tests to earn the title of being a Master ASE Mechanic.
Moral to story – Be truthful and accurate of what you have earned and gratefully humble to accept the good knowledge of others!
Happy Holidays!
